Here's to informed decisions and the love of the game!
Recap
A look back at yesterday’s Picks
So, how'd we do yesterday? Not too shabby for our first go! We kicked things off with a solid 2-0, which has us up 1.7 units. Not a bad day at the office, right?
First, about the Nationals vs. White Sox game – we took the over of 9 runs. With the Nats smashing 13 runs on their own, that was an easy win for us.
Game two? Well, that was a bit more of a nail-biter. We had the over of 8.5 runs in the Mariners vs. Oakland game. It was close, but Oakland came through in the clutch, rounding it out to a 6-3 finish.
MLB
Baseball picks for Thursday, September 21st
Tampa Bay Rays Total Team Runs: Over 4.5: The stage is set: The Rays are up against Griffin Canning, a pitcher who's found himself in a bit of a rough patch recently. With 9 earned runs surrendered in only his last 3 starts this September, it's evident he's been struggling.
The Rays are not just playing for today; they have their eyes set on an outside run for the first spot in the AL East race. Given these factors, I'm optimistic they'll rally and deliver on the runs front.
Current Betting Odds: -106 (available on FanDuel)
Phillies vs. Mets: Over 9 Runs: Ah, the age-old rivalry between the Phillies and Mets. There's history here, and tonight, I expect it to translate to some fireworks on the field. With the Mets sending out David Peterson to the mound, things look favorable for our pick. Peterson’s recent form isn’t exactly stellar, boasting a 5.32 ERA over his last 3 September starts. With the Phillies' potent offense, he might find himself in some hot water.
On the Phillies' side, we have Ranger Suarez taking the hill. While Suarez has been nothing short of impressive this season for the reigning NL champs, it's essential to remember his recent injury stint. Yes, he had a commendable outing against the Cardinals post-injury, but the Mets' batters are a different beast, especially given their recent offensive surge. Case in point: their recent series against Arizona saw them piling up a whopping 28 runs!
Current Betting Odds: -110 (available on FanDuel)
Player Prop: Trea Turner & Pete Alonso - Both to Get a Hit: Earlier, I alluded to the Phillies vs. Mets game being a high-scoring affair, and here's another bet anchored to that belief. Both Trea Turner and Pete Alonso are central to my predictions, and here’s why:
Trea Turner is lighting up the diamond right now. Ever since the heartfelt support from Philly fans during a challenging period, he's turned his game up several notches. A staggering 17-game hit streak speaks volumes, and over his last 15 outings, he's clocked a .317 batting average with a whopping 20 hits. The man's in form, and I’m banking on him to continue this trend.
As for Pete Alonso, well, he's been doing what he does best: delivering offensively. Multi-homerun games? Check. Consistency at the plate? Double check.
Given the expected offensive fireworks in this matchup and the current form of both players, betting on each to register a hit today seems like a well-informed choice.
Current Betting Odds: -105 (Available on FanDuel)
NFL
Professional Football picks for Thursday, September 21st
With only one NFL showdown gracing our screens tonight, let's dive straight into the action. It's a 49ers night for me, folks!
49ers Covering 10.5 Point Spread - I'm bullish on San Francisco and see them more than capable of covering the 10.5-point spread. They've shown resilience, strength, and tactical prowess in their previous games. Today should be no different.
Over 44 Points Total - As for the over/under? Smash the over on 44. Both teams bring offensive firepower, and I expect the scoreboard to reflect that.
Feeling extra spicy? Combine these two for a parlay.
Highlight for the night: Keep an eye on Brock Purdy. Primetime games have a certain magic, and I've got a hunch that Purdy will rise to the occasion, putting on a display that'll be talked about for weeks.
College Football

Ladder Challenge
Ladder Challenge picks for Thursday, September 21st
Want to join us on an exhilarating journey to turn a small stake into a small fortune? Welcome to the Ladder Challenge! The mission: Transform $10 into a whopping $10,000 in ten days. Sounds wild, right? But here's the strategy. Each day, we'll pick a player prop hovering around the +100 mark. Then, all the winnings each day get rolled into the next day's wager. Through the magic of compounding, we aim to turn that initial $10 into a hefty payout by day ten.
Day 1 of the Ladder Challenge:
For our kickoff selection, I've honed in on three player props that I believe will set us on the right path:
Daniel Jones 25+ Rushing Yards - Jones showcased his ability to tuck the ball and run in Week 1 with 43 yards against the formidable Dallas Cowboys defense. In Week 2? A cool 59 yards. With Saquon Barkley likely sidelined, Jones might have to rely on his legs even more.
Christian McCaffrey 50+ Rushing Yards - McCaffrey is the embodiment of a ground game dynamo. Clocking in 268 rushing yards already this season, hitting a 50-yard mark should be a walk in the park for this powerhouse.
Deebo Samuel 25+ Receiving Yards - Fresh off a stellar 63-yard receiving performance against the Rams, Deebo seems primed to exceed a 25-yard mark with ease.
These selections feel solid, setting the stage for us to climb that ladder to Day 2. Let's lock in and see where this challenge takes us!
Longshots
Longshot pick for Thursday, September 21st
Ready to walk on the wild side? Welcome to the Longshot Corner! Here, we embrace the unpredictable, the thrilling, and those bets with the kind of odds that'll make your eyes pop. Now, before you dive in, remember: these picks are edgy, and while they offer a tantalizing payout, they also come with a higher risk. So if you're feeling adventurous, come on aboard. But always keep in mind, it might not pan out.
Quick heads up: Longshot picks won't be counted in our "recap" section. We keep these separate from our regular tally, so you can evaluate them in their own exciting context.
For this edition of the Gambler's Gazette, I've got my sights on George Kittle to score the first touchdown in the upcoming Thursday night football game. A bold move? Absolutely. But that's what the Longshot Corner is all about!
